RUGER TOMAHAWK

Help Support Ruger Forum:

Right from the days of big hair and parachute pants! I'd like to shoot a Magnaported Super one day.

I shot a Magna-Ported Freedom Arms .454 for years. I finally got a chance to junk that P.O.S. and install a proper barrel without any extra "vents".

What was the Tomahawk? Just a special purchase & aftermarket fluff-up?
Anything official? I cannot find any factory reference.

Aftermarket "fluff-up" by Mag-na-port who did several Ruger customizations. They were pretty popular at the time bringing big premiums...but I.M.O., they are still customized Rugers.
The R.C.A. succeeded in getting 90 of the Tomahawk issue secured for sale to its membership. These have an extra stamping on the side of the frame (as memory serves, a small tomahawk along with RCA and a number between 1 and 90).

A friend told me he knows of a 'Ruger Tomahawk' stainless steel, 44 caliber revolver that a neighbor lady is trying to sell. It is supposedly one of only a thousand made by Ruger and presented to certain Ruger employees. It is identified by a single-digit number as one of the thousand, and is accompanied by a presentation plaque that does NOT have the recipients name on it, but does say it's a factory presentation.

You'll need to get more information on that one. Ruger didn't do a "1 of 1000" Tomahawk. They did do a 1 of 1000 Police Marksman Association .44 Redhawk with a matching serial numbered 6" Stainless Security-Six, both in a single presentation case. Wonder if that is what you are speaking of.
I can see some of the earliest numbers (they started at 500-01000/156-01000) going to Ruger employees, but have yet to hear of an example of this, unless it was to the recipients of the "low serial number program". I do know 500-01004/156-01004 went to its receipient, comptroller Walt Berger who had the #4 subscription collection.
