Ruger single six 17hmr

I just bought a ruger single 6 in 17 hmr model knr-5-17. It has been fired around 10 times and looks brand new. Heard these were rare in this caliber and for $550 I had to jump on it. Not sure if I should use it for animals in snares at the ranch or store it away as a future collectors item.

Use it as it was intended for.
Heck not only it is stainless, it is also a RUGER, and about the only way you can hurt it is to toss it in the air and let it come down on concrete or gravel.

Not as common as the .22's,, but not as rare as the factory convertible .17's.

Bouchardt (sp) makes a cylinder for them that makes them a Mach 2. But it only comes in blued.

I never knew they made a non-Hunter model in stainless, all I've seen is blue. Was that a distributor or TALO edition? The red grip medallions makes me think it was some sort of exclusive.

I checked GunBroker completed auctions and saw 4 that sold recently, all in the $900-$1000 range ($894.00-$999.99, plus shipping). So $550 seems like a steal and you may want to research it some more before committing it to frequent field use.

I am hoping Ruger makes a run of these sometime . They dont appear to be making revolvers .
