Ruger Security Six or Taurus M 66 (6" bbls)

Without question I would definitely prefer the Ruger for ease of maintenance, quality control, and robustness of the build. You'll have a hard time shooting it loose with hot loads. It's a little harder finding accessories for it such as sights, holsters, or grips but not impossible.

My choice would be Ruger for sure. However, when Taurus does something right you have to give them credit. I had a Taurus beretta Bobcat copy that was defective out of the box new. The repair went flawless. I got a return label immediately and was able to track it and I think I had it back in a little over 2 weeks.
Fundamentally, you are praising Taurus for having successfully sold you a defective gun. Yes, that IS laudable, however, I can assure you they have considerable experience selling "almost guns" and then fixing the crap they foisted off on you.

I have found Taurus guns to be good guns and their CS was great when I needed it. (they repaired a gun that I broke for free).
As is the case with most manufacturers, given the choice between Ruger and Taurus, Ruger wins every time on quality, durability, consistent CS.
Any tie would be broken by the fact that Ruger is a 100% US corporation, but that's never been the case.

JMD101 - WHAT WERE YOU THINKING TO EVEN ASK THIS QUESTION?? (yes I'm shouting :))
I needed your overwhelming advice to feel good and show my cousin who i was buying either one for! and get your take. And WOW did I get it , on all the Forums! Thanks to you all.
Got alot of action! And feel great about my purchase thanks guys!

(It may surprise you, but the same question over on the Taurus forum prompted responses that can be summarized as, "Buy the Ruger!" ;^)
Yeah I posted same in 4 forums... all overwhelming Ruger! Poor m66 didn't stand a chance, as if I asked if you could pick a free gun would you pick a Hi point or a Swiss Sig 230 🤣

Ruger. Reason; Taurus is a Brazilian company, IIRC. Also, it seems to me that mostly what they do is rip off other's designs. All set, I'll take a Made In USA brand.

I can't think of many manufacturers that havn't appropriated a previous design. The Taurus M92 is indeed made in Brazil with Beretta licensed tooling, and the Taurus copies of the S&W revolvers were made on S&W tooling while both companies were owned by the Bangor Punta, a South American conglomerate. In both instances there was no foul play going on, the copies were licensed.

Even our beloved Ruger has its fair share of "rip offs" in the catalog.

...Also, it seems to me that mostly what they do is rip off other's designs...

If you're referring to their Beretta 92 variants, Taurus purchased the Beretta factory (and apparently hired the Beretta employees) directly from Beretta. Given that Beretta agreed to & profited from the transaction, I doubt "rip off" is an appropriate description!
:)

And the employees still had a job after beretta left. Making same gun on same tooling and machines.

No matter what anybody says Taurus makes a reasonably good revolver. Can't say the same for their pistols, But I have several revolvers and they are OK, I'd buy one again if I wanted one. But if I had a choice between Ruger and Taurus, I would always get the Ruger.

I can honestly say as an FFL holder since 2005, I have sent more Taurus products back to Maimi for repair than I have returned to the other "major" firearms manufacturers combined.

You got the expected answer when asking the question on a Ruger forum.
I beleive that the answer is the correct one. Although Taurus has made some strides in recent years in both quality and customer service, there still remains a gap between them and Ruger on both issues. One other important thing to consider is the retained value and collectibility potential of the Ruger vs Taurus firearms.

I inherited a very little used early 1980's Taurus M66, 6 inch barrel-blued. It is very accurate. Puts a smile on my face when I shoot it. I have not put that many rounds through as compared to my GP 100. If I had a choice I would chose the Ruger. If I was buying new or used I would choose the Ruger. I might still buy a 6 inch stainless Ruger.
