Ruger RXM?

Help Support Ruger Forum:

Got my IWI Masada 9 mm for $500 out the door. Damn fine firearm!

I may be wrong but doing a Glock clone (not a glockish pistol) seems a horrible idea. I mean I bought a Dagger because I liked the idea of it being able to use Glock parts & magazines but I'm not sure Ruger can compete in that market. There is PSA on the inexpensive side & Shadow Systems for the higher brow. What would Ruger do to make themselves competitive.
Use a DA/SA hammer fired action!!!

The dealbreaker for me with the Glocks was that they always felt awkward in my hand, partly perhaps due to the grip angle. I'd like to try out an RXM (and for that matter, a PSA Dagger) to see how they feel in comparison.

The fact that RXM takes Glock mags is a bonus.

The Security 9 sells more in the $250-$300 range and $100-$150 is a substantial price difference for people with limited resources to be able to get a new gun from a highly reputable manufacturer.
At that price range there are other manufacturers making better (finish, magazine/holster compatibility, etc) guns. I believe that the price will have to be lowered in order to stay competitive, but we will see. I would hate it if they discontinue the Security 9. I wish they would make a gen 2, but I think I am asking too much for a budget gun.

Yeah, but it's a Ruger! I have never had to use PSA's customer service. I have used Sig's. It was good but customer service from Ruger is outstanding.

I agree, not much "ground shaking" newness here. But, they must think that there is a market for them. Seems to me the market is pretty saturated.
Like everything Ruger has done for 20 years!!! Meeee Toooo!!! Pathetic.

Hard to beat that price and from the vids seems it's a serviceable piece. Not in the market for another 9 but if I was I'd been looking hard at this one.

I have about a half dozen Magpul mags for Glocks 19 & 17. They have been 100% so far. But like all things Glock that haven't let me down right out of the box I prefer to keep the Glocks very close to stock & reserve the MP mags for practice or plinking.

OTOH, Ruger could do a lot worse by using them & partnering with MP also for the grip skeleton. MP seems to have a very good handle on the ability & desire to produce quality products.

An interesting Liasson for sure.

personally I never worry about getting parts for a gun... I think I've had to replace a retaining ring on the recoil spring on a P95 once.... that is it. And I'm not going to go the 'Barbie Doll' route with handguns like many do with AR's and such... buy and have a zillion excessories you can tack on. What puts me off most about Glocks or Glock clones or close is how hard they are to break down compared to an Sig or even a Ruger P series pistol.

Going with Glock mags was the best thing they could do. Most Rugers to this point use proprietary to the model mags that are hard to find when the model is discontinued after a few years!!! I like the FCG modularity but still think a hammer fired Module with
DA/DA/DC options would be far better and not be a pathetic attempt at Meeee Toooo. Glock Barrel compatibility would open up a ton of aftermarket options as well.

Meh? It's not a like--dislike kind of thing. It's a pistol. I have pistols I like and shoot well. I'm not inclined to go out and buy the flavor or deal of the day just to try out or to see if I do like it. For those that do like that kind of thing good for them, have fun, share with us your experience with the new offering. I wish all the success to Ruger with this new offering.

I will never understand why folks have an issue taking the slide of a Glock. I'm not a Glock Fan Boy but I do own a couple, and built up a few Daggers. It seems the biggest issue with the folks I know is the release tabs. Once I show them how to hold the Glock in web of strong hand, fingers on top of slide to bring slide rearwards slightly, and use weak hand thumb and pointing finger to pull down BOTH release tabs from underneath and let the slide go forward they say "huh...that was easy". They never have a issue again.

My issue is Ruger becoming a sad copycat. We already have Palmetto all over this. I would describe Rugers attempts at Strikers as mediocre at best. It looks like they got a decent trigger but time will tell how safe it really is. I give them a 0 for plagiarism.
