A few weeks ago I bought an all-weather 77/22 with the green stock inserts. Everything is in good shape but the scope ring screws are the "old" slotted type and I'd like to replace them with newer torx or hex head screws. Anyone know for certain what the size, thread pitch, etc. is on these?

Thanks in advance.

According to Brownell's the size is 6-40 1/4". I ordered a dozen of them for less than $3 (MidwayUSA wanted $1.99 each, dealer cost).

If anyone can confirm the size I'd still appreciate it.

contact Ruger. Seams they would have them in stock. Might even cut you a deal if you let them know that they are buggered up. Sorry if it sounds smart.

I didn't contact them regarding size, but Ruger sells them on their website. $3 per set but they require a minimum $10 order.

I've replaced them before - the 6/40 is correct. Keep in mind that Ruger uses a T10 torx head and if you buy from Brownells you'll get the larger and more common T15 torx head. As a practical matter one works as well as the other, but I think simple is better.

dfletcher-Brownells torx head ring screws are available t 10 size, have switched all my shooters over.

I finally got 'round to getting the SKU from Brownells; 080-924-464, marked 6-40X1/4 T-10 Torx Head WVR Scrws (12)
