Guys,
In Australia we're being told of a recall on the 300 and 338RCM chambered Hawkeye's as a result of the rear sight screws having been threaded too deeply.

This doesn't seem to be the case in the USA as most forums are quiet on this point.

Anyone heard anything?
Cheers...

Just to add ... I grabbed this from an Australian forum.

"All models affected start with 710- and have the following serial numbers, 50101,50118,54162,54166,54247,54248,54253,54254,54257,54258,54268,54269,54273,54275,54294,54323,54349,54350,
54351,54355,54358,54360,54364,54370,55647,55694."

Problem seems to be that the rear screws in the sights on some of these rifles have been drilled too deep and the screw may break through into the bore.
Cheers...

I saw a note on that on the 24HourCampfire yesterday, and went to the Ruger website. They say nothing about it there, so either it's only an Australian export model issue, or they haven't gotten around to telling us yet.

I'm hoping that it's not an issue with all of them, as I have a .338 RCM and really like it a lot. I'm sorry that it happened to you guys, for sure.

I hope it all gets repaired pronto for you.

muledeer,
The recall came through the local importer ... so maybe it is limited to rifles shipped to Australia? Even of the serial numbers affected, not all will have issues. But all are being requested for a check.
Cheers...

My recall notice arrived last week and the warranty shop is in Eastern Canada...I'm in the West so I hope my rifle is back in time for hunting season....
