Bought this decades ago on a whim. Shot it a few times and haven't taken it out since. I looked up the serial number and it said it shipped in 1984, but it said the Product Line was No. 1. The only manual offered for download was a No. 1 manual. I'm confused. Does that seem right?

There are reprints of the manual for the #3 on E-bay. Nor sure when Ruger dropped the #3 but if they still had receivers on hand they probably completed and sold them even if no longer cataloged. Wish they would make another run but with a plain un-checkered plain walnut butt stock like the #1.

I needed a #3 as a donor for my build. When I found an affordable example it was chambered in 223, and before sending it off for the build, I tried it out at 100 yds off the bench. Folks warned me not to or I'd decide not to proceed, but after 20 rounds, that were sent out in a pattern rather than a group, my decision to rebarrel was upheld. 🤨
My finished project gun is on the way home and scheduled to reach me Monday. 😁
