I have acquired a Ruger No.1 RSI in 243 cal. I'm told the twist is 1:7.5. Can anyone verify this or tell we what the twist actually is? What grain bullets does it like. I will be using it on Deer this fall.

Checking the Ruger web site showed a 243 Varmint #1 with a twist of 1 in 7.7". However, the American rifle in 243 has a twist of 1 in 9". A call to Ruger with the serial number might be in order. Bob!! 8)

Or you could measure it yourself and be sure. Here's one of several ways:

My daughter has one but the international forend has been replaced with the Alex Henry style. She has been shooting the .243 Win 87 gr SST® Custom Lite® ammunition from Hornady. It is very accurate in her rifle. My brother has also hand loaded some Nosler Partitions (85 grain, I think) for it that shot very well.

Standard Twist rate in .243 Ruger 77 and #1 for years was 1-10".

As the #1 RSI has not been produced in a number of years it's likely it is 1-10.

Twist rate in the Ruger Precsion Rifle is 1-7.7"
