I traded into a rifle today that I have been trying to acquire for about three years. It is a model 77/44 in stainless with synthetic stock. The serial number identifies it as 2001 date of manufacture.I got it from the original owner with the original box.The rifle has been fired some but appears brand new.I am tickled with this one.

I have the same rifle. I think you will be surprised by the accuracy. At the range, myself and forum member, WAYNO, shot about 3" groups @ 50yds. with open sights. Neither one of us, has young eyes. So, good luck and enyoy! :)

By the way, we used Winchester 240 gr factory soft point ammo.

We use one that is suppressed for our hog hunting guide service and it shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards.
What a great gun.

I think it was 2" groups! :D And who you talking about, don't got young eyes?

Seriously, these are great guns. And, like a fool, I sold mine.

And, this is a gun, that if I saw it for sale in a gun store, I'd buy it on the spot. Not to worry, in this area...We can only buy what out local dealers say we can buy, as they're pretty conservative in what they'll stock.

WAYNO.

Just got back from the range. I mounted a Leupold 2x7x33 scope on the little rifle and was surprised that it held groups right at 2" at 100yds. with a mixed bag of ammo. Farther than I will be hunting, but good at any rate.

After looking at a fair amount of scopes I settled on a silver Bushnell Sportsman 3X9X32.I did not want a 40MM objective lens.It would look too big on the rifle.I had an extra black scope but thought that it would look out of place on a stainless rifle.Had trouble locating one until I went to my local Dick's Sporting Goods and they had one in the display case with no box which they reduced $10 so I purchased it and I've just now finished mounting it and bore sighting. It looks good.
Wednesday when I go to the range I'll see about sighting it in.I hope I get as good a result as you guys seem to have gotten.

Congrats on your fine carbine. I have one and love it. Mine has a blued scope as do all my stainless rifles. I never did care for silver colored scopes and think that blued ones look best on any rifle. I always use blued rings as well.

I finally got to the range and had a chance to shoot the new-to-me 77/44.This is one accurate fine shooting rifle.I had put a new Bushnell 3X9X32 on it and it only took five shots to zero the rifle. The trigger is smooth and breaks clean.I am very very pleased with this rifle.
When I got home it was very easy to clean.I think there might be more stainless rifles in my future.

Update: I went to the range again Tuesday. Not such good results this time. Scope wouldn't adjust and I lost zero, by changing to an untested brand of ammo. Oh well, I will get it figured out. I still think it will be a fine rifle once the bugs are worked out.
