I too have seen Ruger/Marlin 1895 45-70Govt
prices fluctuate.

A Local Gun Store has had two of them lately.
One went for over $2000.00 when all was
said and done. The second one had a "Buy
Now" at $1875.00, it was gone in a day.

I too am going to wait to get one. I have
shot the original models; SBL and GBL,
and really liked them. I reload 45-70 so
it's easier on the wallet.

I had a 22" Marlin and then got a Guide gun when they came out in stainless. Ended up selling it as well. Still have a Ruger #1, (5oth Anniversary model). I shoot it and enjoy it. Very accurate with my reloads using 300 grain Barnes and 405 grain Remington JSP's. Shoots Hornady factory Hornady Gummy bears loads great as well.

I was at a local dealer here on Monday who got one in while I was there. IIRC he put $1700 on it and posted that he had one in on his FB page later that day. Less than an hour after opening the next day he updated that it was gone.
