Hello All
I was reading an old thread from 2009 about the Outdoor Sports exclusive two tone MKII model MK512s. I recently picked one up at auction and was wondering what the value was these days because back then they were saying $200-300 all day.
I know a normal Mark III or IV is close to $500 now. What about this collector piece?
Thanks. I have learned a lot reading these older threads but I joined to get more current information. Shoot straight and be safe.

Welcome to the Forum Old1215!

As noted,, due to the many times people have swapped around parts or put customs together,, a $10 letter from Ruger will verify how the gun shipped.

As to value,, an honest one,, well, maybe our resident MKII expert "onegunsnotenough" will see this & chime in. He'll be more up to date on values.

How does one go about obtaining a letter?
I have a Ruger sp101 talo in .357 I'd like to get verified as well

It's under the Customer Server section of Ruger's website:

https://ruger.com/dataProcess/customerService/

Go to the FAQ's and then select "General". Once there, look for the serial number lookup FAQ item, and click on the answer. The Request for Letter of Authenticity form will pop up a PDF form. https://ruger.com/pdf/letterOfAuthenticity.pdf

You don't need a letter if all you want to find out is if it's a MK512S. Just enter the serial number in the serial number lookup on Ruger's website and if it comes back that you have a model 00146 you're golden. Also if you have the original box it will be on the label.

Thanks. Unfortunately no factory box but the serial number is correct.

So it seems you have a MK512S. As jimbo1096 points out you just have a shooter, unless you can find someone who really needs one to fill in a collection and is willing to take what they can get. It's value is what you can get out of it, but take into account that stainless lowers by themselves are selling for $250 - $300, especially ones in excellent condition.
