Has anyone ever had a Rugwr converted to the 40 Super. My big question I guess is what gun would be a good candiate to convert to the 40 Super? Imay be asking stupid questions here as I really do not even know if it is possible and if it is which gun and starting caliber would you want to start with. Regular ammo is so hard to find I am just working on creating some rare works of art for holding and looking pretty. I would probably have 100 rounds and a gun no one had or would have LOL. Just throwing out the idea. Any ideas will be appreciated. Like I said this may be a bad stupid topic. But if you do not know ask. Someone will know on this forum.Excellent source of info for us dumber revolver guys.Just something about that heavy Ruger wheelgun. And I have shot 10000 rounds thru the old Ruger autos in 22lr. But now 22lr is to expensive so I am just going to invest my money in off the wall guns that like a work of art please me.

Nothing wrong with your idea! I did something similar but went to 38-40. I liked the traditional cartridge in a traditional single action.

Used a NM 357 Blackhawk because it's on the full size frame so I could shoot loads that give the full potential of the cartridge. I call it my .40 WCF Magnum. I wanted to ream a 357 cylinder instead of paying for a custom cylinder. So the OM which is on the mid-frame was not an option. It would work but I wouldn't shoot "Ruger only" loads in it. You can get a .40 Cal. barrel blank or have the 357 barrel rebored. You could make a convertible, 40 Super/40 WCF.

I've dressed it in steel grip frame with steel ejector housing, Montado hammer and SBH grooved trigger.

I have the 38-40/10mm special run Blackhawk. So I have the 38-40 loaded up to max power and it is about like a medium 44 mag load. The 10mm I use Underwood ammo which is loaded up to max from the factory with a good selection of bullets and loads.I may just get a 45LC/45ACP and work with it to get the max out of those 2 loads.I love the idea of 2 cylinders in a gun but I do not want to give up accuracy. The 22lr/22mag you give up a little. Not so in the 38-40/10mm as the bullets are the exact same size. Guess I could play with the 30 carbine and something not sure what though.

I don't have one, but I know people shoot 32-20 in the their New Model cylinders with great results. The 32-20 has such a slight shoulder that they will resize just fine after shooting them in the straight wall chambers of the 30 carbine.

It doesn't work in old model cyls however because the chambers are recessed, unless you have the recess slightly enlarged for the larger case rim of the 32-20.
