I think the accepted endshake limits for a .357 Mag Ruger GP100 is .002 inch to .005 inch.

What are the negative effects of endshake that is less than .002 inch?

What are the negative effects of endshake that is greater than .005 inch?

I think the short anwer is that the more endshake you have, the faster it gets worse (if you shoot it that is). Real heavy loads increase the endshake even faster.

I don't think there is such a thing as too little endshake, but too little cylinder gap can cause problems with functioning due to fouling buildup on between the cylinder face and forcing cone.
