Ruger Flat Top 44 Magnum

Help Support Ruger Forum:

I got no argument with both issues, BUT OSP only administer the checks USING the FBI data base. they do the work, (nanny state) instead of your FFL dealer being trusted. bottom line. theres only one data base, used by many agencies / and authorized individuals (FFL holders) 4473 is a federal fourm. think about, Oregon has its own "Separate data base" no way.

"The younger generations and the lesser educated population think this is wonderful.
WE'RE DOOMED,"

Until those very same people decide they want or need guns & ammo. THEN they will change the laws. (Maybe,,,, hopefully????)
Sheep think they don't need teeth. They rely on the shepherd dog. It'll keep them safe. Until it discovers a taste for mutton.

"cloudy and pitted" Make sure you get the barrel scoped before you shoot it. Looks like the cylinder has some pitting also.

That one does have the transfer bar.

If you are wanting to shoot it, get it checked. If you just want the collectible, you did all right! If it is shootable, you did GREAT!!
Saw a Vaquero with 7 1/2 inch bbl at Bass Pro, so I checked it out. Outside was not well cared for as color case hardening was almost gone and blueing on bbl was just fair. There was no evidence of rust anywhere. I was not able to view the bore because of trigger lock. Price $580. Can the case hardening be restored? Can it be camouflaged with cold blue? I would consider an offer, but I am a person that likes the cosmetics on my guns, so I didn't get too excited over the gun. That said, if the bore is good it may be a good shooter, at the right price.

Color case hardening on these newer guns is temporary if you're gonna shoot and/or clean them.

Never understood all the trigger lock bs on a gun they are trying to sale. I'm checking it out or I ain't buying it. The small shop that gets most my business will pull the lock for a check if they think you are a serious buyer. They've never handed me one with a lock to start with.

Sadly,, the faux color case hardening finish by Ruger was not a very good finish. It's common to see them with that faded or worn look.
But if the price is right,, and the gun is in good shape otherwise,, and you like it,, buy it!
