OK, I read the part about "cloudy bore with sharp rifling" but still - $600.00 for a Ruger Flat Top in 44 Magnum?

I tossed out a $625.00 bid when it started, didn't pay attention and figured somebody else would snag it. Surprise!!

Looks like the original "4 clicks" parts are still in there too.

Am I missing something? I can deal with the drag line.

"cloudy and pitted" Make sure you get the barrel scoped before you shoot it. Looks like the cylinder has some pitting also.

For what it is worth:

That one does have the transfer bar.

If you are wanting to shoot it, get it checked. If you just want the collectible, you did all right! If it is shootable, you did GREAT!!

I'm hoping alot of scrubbing and maybe some bore paste will set things straight. Will have to see how that cylinder cleans up. The hammer will be cleaned for sure.

Not sure what the heck "cloudy" means vs "pitted" but will find out, I guess.

Maybe I'll have the gun hard chromed and when I'm long dead a future post will start here with "I have Ruger Flat Top in stainless steel ...." :)

You got a potentially nice shooter there.
That gun has had a bit of work done to it. The barrel appears to have been shortened. (The shortest ones were 6-1/2" from the factory.) The front sight has had a colored insert added too. Still a good one to get.

The gun in the photo above isn't mine - link to the one I bought.

The photo gun was a reference only. It was in an auction I was watching that had a lot of old models in it.

Most of the "normal" versions were going in the $600-$700. I posted that picture of a flattop .44 that was "worse" than his (transfer bar, shortened, front sight) that went for more.

I think you did well.... In today's world, $600 for a 44Mag is mighty fine.... and an OM FT, it's mighty great.
I shoot guns with pitted and cloudy bores..... hell, I'm a little 'pitted and cloudy' myself.
CONGRATS........ p.s. let us know...!!!

Thanks all - kind of liked getting this one through Oregon. No wait, no tax and no CA background $$$.

The bore scrubbed up clean. Lots of leadingthough. Maybe the previous owner was sending soft lead downrange at 1,400 fps.

Where in OR? And- no wait? I guess OSP must be getting caught back up. I miss the days when it was always instantaneous.

Beautiful gun and a great deal, I think. I would have bid on that!

Great Score, it looks really good, let us know how it shoots.

Don't you just love it when the bore is advertised as frostie, and then a some proper cleaning and lead removal, it turns out perfect!

This 41 Magnun Blackhawk was sold to me with a shot out barrel, I could not believe how much lead had accumulated. It took some work, but when I finally started getting clean white patches, I was surprised how perfect it was, and it now shoots very accurate. One of my favorites.
