This test gun (Charter Arms .44 Spcl. Bull Dog) featured a 2.5 inch barrel- seemingly 'balanced' compared to the GP101 Snub. Three....and up to four inch barrel offerings could also be ideal.

Recoil was,well......low pressure Special- mild. "Pleasant".Accuracy decent, and reflective of inherent .44 tendency.

Many admire the concept. Niche."Wow"."I want one". "This is what I have been looking for...."

"Lightweight" features to the point that extensive shooting likely to cause 'wear'- what a bummer.I can't quite "grasp" this prototype knowing it is not a Ruger, and all that entails.

The 'strengths' of Charter Arms 44 Special Bull Dog market placement suggestive of opportunity for Ruger.
The CA Bulldog "Prototype" is not "Cheap":after spending near $400 on the CA Bulldog, a few more $ ( and a few more ounces of metal where needed...!)for a genuine Ruger version would be welcome.....and just when I figured I was done buying.
I bet I am not alone!

As long as we are dreaming, how about a new cartridge too. Let's make it a .385 sorta-magnum and put it in a six shot GP-100. :D :D

No No No!

Stick with reasonable dream outcome; five shoot .44 Special. Maybe even followed by Mag.

Years ago, when Bill was alive I,like apparently so many others wrote and asked for a five shot .38,just like my Colt Agent.....only "Ruger". Enter 101.......

It's time. Can't even locate certain new revolvers in my market area, the well connected gun shop that secured my Lipsey Flat Top 44 Spcl tells me there is emphasis on producing other types, the story of the caved in factory roof due to rain etc etc.

I bet some know of upcoming offering.
