Ruger American Gen II 5.56 Ranch…stock dilemma.

I recently purchased a Ruger American Gen II Ranch in 5.56.

I'm not crazy about the stock. While nicer than the Gen 1 stocks I don't care for the buttpad and the standard length of pull is too long for me. The shorter spacers aren't available anywhere either. What I do like is that it is light, and seems to free-float the barrel just fine.

Today I put the action in a Magpul Hunter stock with STANAG mag well. The rifle points flawlessly, the mag release is much nicer than the Ruger…but the forend is unnecessarily wide and long (the 16" barrel barely gets past the stock)…and the damned thing is heavy. Suddenly, this light and handy rifle isn't any more!

What other options do I have?

The Gen II only been out a few months. The aftermarket needs a bit of time to come up options & accessories.

Give'm time.

6 months later and still not many options. I do like the magpul hunter on my ranch .300blk however. The barrel channel is ridiculously oversized. It's got at least 1\8" clearance all the way around. Other downside is to get a proper cheekweld I had to add the .5" taller riser which means the bolt can't be removed without either taking off the riser or removing the action from the stock. Not ideal but still way better than the factory stock.
