Took my No.1 and 77/44 to the range this morning for a little fun and testing.

Both shot well and I am completely satisfied. I was just plinking on paper with a sandbag rest from 25/50 and 100 yards. All loads were reloads with 240 grain Hornady XTP on top of Win 296.

No. 1 has a better trigger. The rifle is overall heavier so recoil was lighter. I am using a Leupold VX-HOG 4X20MM.

77/44 Just arrived and this was the first trip out. Trigger breaks crisp but has a long spongy section that is going to take some time to get used to. Light rifle. Recoil starts to become an issue after 30 rounds. Nikon 2X7 Prostaff.

Yes, I brought a S&W 629 and a bag of light loads. It was a 44 mag day.

Nice workout with the 44 magnums. :D
The other Ruger 44 mag rifles (44 carbine, 96-44 and 99-44) don't have any butt pad at all.
