:D Ordered a Ruger 257 roberts Hawkeye light weight yesterday.I have a Weaver 6x scope I,m going to try. Seems to me this will be a perfect combo. This is my first Hawkeye ( I have 3 MKII) Anybody else have this gun? What loads do you use? Thanks PJ

I have a tang safety m77 and an Encore pistol in 257R and like them. I use 100gr Nosler PAR bullets for hunting and Rem/Win bulk 100gr bullets for fun shooting. I have also used 100gr Nosler BT for hunting and fun shooting. I use H-414 or IMR4064 powder.
If hunting in the Calif no-lead zone then it is barnes bullets. I prefer the Nosler PAR bullets though when I can use it.

The Ruger M77RL MKII ultralight I have weights in at 7.5lbs with a Leupold M8 compact 4x in Ruger rings. It's the perfect combo for me & like Divernhunter says, here in Cen-Cal we have to use lead-free bullets. My load for this rifle is the Barnes 100gr. TSX over 44.0gr. of H-4350 @ 2,775 fps. I've also used H-414.

I had a rem 700 classic for several years and foolishly sold it. I killed several deer with it and it was very efficient. I used 120 gr remington corelok and about 2800 fps. I think you will really enjoy your purchase as it is one of the best all round calibers out there IMHO.

I have a standard Hawkeye in .257Roberts. It's fitted with a 2.5-8 Leupold. My current load is a 100gn Hornady and 48gn H4350 for 3155fps. Work up though, as that's getting up there.

Don't have a .257 but had an uncle that flat loved his. Even took elk in Wyoming with it in the 1950s and 60s. I've been trying to get his gun for some time but the other nephews who have it won't part with it :(
