I just purchased a Ruger flattop in 45 colt . 5 1/2 inch barrel stainless . Very nice revolver . Would like to get a set of rubber grips for it . Would like Pachmayers . Anyone know where to buy them ? Thanks .

I'm not sure they make them,,, keeping in mind that particular grip frame is XR3, and is 7/16" thick vs 1/2" which is what most Rugers are.
I struggled with the smaller (XR3) thinner grip frame on my 4.6" 45C/45ACP,,,,

So I switched it out for a Birdshead. Some say that smaller,,, but it is just a XR3-RED that has been round-butted.
99% of the time shoot 45 Cowboy Special in it,,, makes it very enjoyable.

I have a set of Pachmayr Presentation grips that came on a used Blackhawk I purchased. I dug them out today and tried to put them on one of my 44 Special Flattops and they did not fit at all.

Pretty sure all Flattop models have XR3 grips and the Pachmayr grips I have are definitely XR3-RED.

Good luck on your search for the proper fitting grips. Maybe the grips could be modified to fit XR3 but likely not going to work.

There is always a work around with Ruger's

Buy a take off gripframe from most Blackhawks or Single Six, this more often will be an aluminum alloy, XR3-RED & 1/2" thick. The weight loss IMO would be beneficial.
The Pachmayr or Hogue, will then fit properly.
Swapping grip frame out is easy, almost as easy as installing the Rubber.

Put a Want to Buy in the classifieds seeking a NM Blackhawk frame, should be ~ $30 +/- $10.
I will have to dig a little, I might have your Rubber.

Cowboy Action Shooters do this swap all the time with the New Vaquero, think of medium frame flattops as an adjustable sight New Vaquero.
When shopping for Grips for these guns are called "Blackhawks" but the GRIP FRAME really is a New Vaquero.
Many buy replacement Grips, and then are frustrated because of this anomaly.

Thanks for the reply's . I think I'll stick with the factory grips . Shot it a few times , seem better . If I do different grips , I'll go wood grips . Thanks again .

I use custom oversize wood grips all year long for target shooting. Just look cool.

But come hunting season with Ruger-only stout loads I switch over to rubber just for hunting week.

I've tried a bunch, but one brand simply stands out as the best. Uncle Mike's!!

Where to get them? Go to their catalog and get the right sku. Then google it. Amazon, EBay, Cabelas, whatever.
