Looked at a Security Six with Python 6" barrel on it today. I've seen Smolts before. Ive never seen the Ruger Colt combo. It seemed fairly well done. Had the barrel been blended where it met the frame and the ask ($700 plus tax) about $150 less, I may have been more inclined to take it home. Thoughts?

Colt barell on a Ruger? Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

I love a vent rib on a bird barrel, I don't need one on a revolver. To each his own.

I think you were smart to walk away.

There was the novelty of it all, but some felt the Colt barrel &/or it's different rate of twist(from Smith anyway) was more accurate with 38 wadcutters.

But thinking the novelty part was the main driver.

Only $700? A lone Python barrel in the wild can easily fetch that much these days. If it looks decent, I'd definitely consider it. Some pistolsmiths modify S&W N-frame revolver barrels and install them on Ruger Blackhawks - and charge a lot more than $700 for the finished product! Same with Gen-3 Colt SAA and New Frontier barrels. And then there's the fad of installing Colt Anaconda barrels on Redhawks. Hamilton Bowen and others charge big bucks for that conversion!

With those grips at first glance I thought it was a Python. He wanted the trigger action of the Ruger vs the Python but still look like a Python?
