Seems like a niche market to me. I've never been into them but many folks are.

What barrel length is yours? Fixed sites? Box, etc.?

If he has an early ROA,, then it's likely a blued gun, and has a 7-1/2" bbl, with adjustable sights.

Now,, depending upon HOW early,, and a few features,, there CAN be a premium of a few of them. As we say; "The devil is in the details."

Posting the serial number as well as the basics can help.

But,, there is a bit of an oddity when it comes to the ROA's. Serial numbering.
1972,, the first year of production, the guns were blue, and they started with serial number 140-00001.
Stainless guns didn't come out until 1975, and started with the serial number 1. NO prefix. Then in later 1976, they adopted the prefix serial number of 145-00001 and went from there. Lastly, in 1981,, the blued guns went to the 145 prefix as well.

Ok, the 140 series began in 1972. Depending on how low the serial number,, there might be a different front sight than a later production gun. There was a lower, "flat type" front sight on some early guns. Known serial number range is 140-00107 to 140-00773.

The few "normal" ones are probably going for bigger money than one would expect..... like everything else. Unless it's showing signs of age and use, my totally uneducated guess would be $800.... I tell my wife, when thinking about estimating costs these days, just DOUBLE the price and add your age.. :)
