State of confusion.
I recently bought my grandson a slingshot. He was delighted. His mother not so much.
Where I got the slingshot, they only had steel ammo and I deferred on that.
So, I hied myself off to Wally World.

During checkout, when I swiped the white marbles, the screen said I had to wait for an associate to verify my age. Accordingly, a youth looked up from their phone, came round, and "cleared" me. I said thank you and swiped the bag of colored marbles. The screen said next item please.
What the hey? If the marbles are white, you're carded, but nobody cares if they are red, brown, yellow, or mixed?
Whatever....

My point it deferring to glass marbles over steel balls. Forget the price difference; ballistically what is the difference? Hit someone with a full pull with either ammo and they are HURT!

One place I worked had a picnic area for employees in the building. Most people worked days during the week and used it then. Nights and weekends it would be vandalized and made a mess of by kids. I would be on the top floor of the building overlooking the area and caught more than one older teen wrecking something. I nailed a couple of them with a well placed marble and the vandalism was drastically reduced.

I wouldn't want to use a steel ball on any critter I didn't want to kill! Glass marbles are just the ticket! :ROFLMAO:

I tried to find a specific short video I watched yesterday about a compound bow holding multiple steel balls. It was rated about 420 fps which could kill a coyote.

Here's another short video of a similar setup: :16

Wrist rocket and marble vs bobcat resulted in the most amazing vertical feline launch I've witnessed. o_O
When I was newly married to my first wife we lived in the city. There was a dog that used to get in the garbage on garbage day and make a mess. It was an unneutered Airedale and he was headfirst in a garbage can across the street from our house. I sailed a marble at him with my wrist rocket and scored a perfect hit on his "Sacajewea"!!! He got stuck in the can trying to run through it while making the loudest howls I have ever heard. I ran across the street and started kicking the can and rolling the dog down the street. When he untangled himself from the garbage can he took off at top speed still making those howls. After that whenever I saw that dog all I had to do was holler and he would run howling his head off.

To be fair, the owner of the dog deserves the treatment for not containing and controlling his dog, allowing him to dump trash all over that someone else has to clean up.

A slingshot and a scare hurts the dog a lot less than a broken chicken bone or who knows what else is in the trash. Not to mention what others might have used instead (bb gun, rock salt loads, etc.).

My town has a leash law. Nevertheless, the guy down the street about 12 houses away would let his dog loose every night and he would come and take a dump in my backyard. It was ruining the grass. So, I resurrected my old sling shot and got some steel balls.

One evening there he was, tail up and his behind pointing at me, and I let him have it. I guess practice paid off. Yup, also his sackagewea. I never saw a dog jump that high, nor howl that loud and long. He never came back.

No, I don't feel ashamed. The dog owner should, though. A roaming dog is illegal. Also, in my state, if a dog is on the prowl during hunting season chasing deer, it is legal to shoot them.
