Replacing my new rubber grips with insert type grips?

I see I can buy the insert style grips and going to order them soon. What I'm needing to know is if I need to order the round pin that go's thru the frame also, my grips have the screw in the butt and not thru the middle of the grip. In the picture on rugers site, it shows my grips and the pin with the end screw, it looks like I'd have to cut off the reduced pins that the saddle attaches too to make them work and I wanted to maybe go back to them from time to time.

Yep you`ll need the big locator pin & the few i`ve changed over i had to clean the hole up a little .

seems like Brownells would asm. a kit for this ???

& if ya like custom panels seek out 41magnum on the . net site to see some of his panels , i have some spalted maple & fit & finish is excellent!

Those original Ruger rubber grips with inserts are getting scarce for both the SP and GP. The owners manual should show the grip locator pin (disk).
