hi fellow ruger owners, this is not a trick question, i have just bought a new ruger 22 hornet, it is the abovementioned model, i am disappointed with the laminated stock. it really lets the rifle down, does anybody make a replacement stock (drop in) that will do the rifle proud ? a solid laminate would do, similar to the ruger .223 varminter.

Boyds makes lots of variations. What is the problem with your stock? I have the same rifle in .22LR and its a good looking combo with the target gray barrel.

hi mattsbox99,

the stock is not a particularly good looking rifle stock, the stock will move left to right (only a small amount) but it moves. i have no idea how it will shoot but looks are important. this is the second ruger laminated stocked rifle i have owned, the first being a .223 varminter. there was no way in hell of flexing that stock. the hornet stock looks cheap and nasty. the stock on my cz 453 in 17hmr is a really attractive piece of timber, am i expecting too much ??

just a catch up note on my ruger stock (K77/22VHZ), i have cleaned & polished the stoc with a furniture polish (twicw now), it looks much better !

when i had removed the action from the stock i found that the front sling stud had been screwed in so far that it was actually touching the underside of the barrel, this is really a matter of poor quality control ! i have since ground the top of the stud so that it no longer contacts the barrel.

i will have to wait and see how it shoots. :D
