Replacement barrel for original 44 Flattop ?

Have an original Flattop 44 with 6-1/2 inch barrel.

Considering replacing it with a 4-5/8 inch barrel -- even with the ejector shroud.

Will any other Ruger barrels match the threads, etc to allow an easy replacement ?

This one was fitted, by Ruger, with a New Model S458N's barrel. The threads are the same as the original but the shank is longer on the NM so some lathe work is necessary.

Kuhnhausen's EXCELLENT book, on page 133, has an illustration.
