Does anyone out there use a red dot scope on see-thru mounts on a pistol? I was thinking about a red dot for a 22/45, but I don't know if I want to lose the pen sights. Is this even feasible?

Since a red dot has no magnification ( 1X ), there's no point in trying to use both the red dot and the iron sights. I've never seen see-through mounts on a pistol, but Weaver-style see-through rings are available.

As an aside, the see-through rings on a rifle are something that sounds like a good idea until you try them. You will find that the overwheming majority of (if not all) experienced shooters condemn their use.

You mean something like this.

This is a B-square mount that replaces one of the grip panels. I used to have a set of factory wood (walnut?) on it and it looked good. When I stuck the mount on I put the black plastic back on the other side. It looked kinda funny with one brown and one black grip panel.
