I recently came by a Ruger 1953 Standard Pistol that the owner informed me had feeding issue and was finish challedged. It came with original and one MkII magazine. When it arrived I immediately thought I'd try and trade for a MkII stainless gun with 4 & 3/4" barrel. I called Ruger and was told to send it to them and for another $100 they'd refurbish and reblue the whole gun for me? So off to Ruger it went. When it returned I decided to forgo the trading and just keep what I owned. Ruger told me that they fired the gun with both magazines for 40 rounds(both Hi velocity and standard velocity) and had no more issues? Yes, the bolt is now blue from the rebluing but, still an outstanding job!

sounds, good, glad they are still doing that,,,as for the bolt being blued, it should be, keep from rusting, if you want to you can polish off the front half of the bolt, the area that shows through the ejection port,,,,,it looks better that way........'either on a buffing wheel or simply take a piece of emery paper ( or aluminum oxide paper) and tear off about a 1 inch wide strip and you can "shoe shine" the front end (sides) of the bolt, very quick, simple and easy to.........only the original , first run of the standard autos was the entire bolt left "in the white", never was blued..........
