" R" stamp on converted guns

I know pictures of these have appeared before but some of our newer collectors and enthusiasts may not be aware of this.
This is the "Returned" die stamp that Ruger places on the guns that have had the safty conversion done on the Old Models.
It is found on the underside of the cylinder frame covered by the gripframe.
The early conversions carried a different marking, and I just don't remember right now what that was.
Any help there?

Oh we bet there are quite a few "old models" out and about , that they did long ago, in the "beginning" og the offer, have NO clue as to "when" they started to actually 'stamp' ( mark the bottom) our guess, for the 'lawyers" ( as proof it was, in fact, done....) :roll:

I can see old Matlock in court, saying to the judge & jury,,,,,"see, right here your honor.....a teeny ,weeny little 'R'..." :lol:
