Question on Value

I saw a Ruger MKII 40th Anniversary model in an original presentation wood case, the top of the case would need refinishing. It appeared that the pistol had not been fired. They had taken it in trade at a gun show and were asking $550 for it. I spent my spare change getting the Volvo fixed, so couldn't buy it, another long time customer there also looking at it purchased it. Was that a good buy? Gun appeared to be 100%.

If it was a real 40th anniversary model,, then there were only 40 of them done. Ruger didn't do the "extra" work,, but still an interesting gun. I have no idea as to value!

At first I was going to say... not my kind of price... but then if Contender is right and only 40 of them were made, I'd say somebody got a deal

Yes,,, while only 40 of them,, they were not done by the factory! But still an interesting piece!

If this is the American Historical foundation gun, there were two different of those made. The first was a 950 production run and will be numbered "___ of 950". The other was the Presidents edition (40 made) which will have "___ of 40" on it.
I've been a little confused on these also, until Pverzal set me straight in an email just yesterday.
