A local country store and FFL owner gave me a Ruger black and yellow cardboard box several years ago. I recently dug it out of storage to put a Ruger Blackhawk in. I discovered a parts set of OM parts behind a flap. An instruction manual for old model single action revolvers equipped with a conversion kit was also in the box. How can I tell what caliber these parts were removed from? They are OM parts as the trigger face is flat. The only clue I have is that on the bottom of the box someone wrote in pen: Ruger Single Six, 22 Magnum, 338529. I assume that they are parts for a .22 cal single six. There are a total of seven parts.
Thanks for any information.

Just comparing with your Blackhawk hammer will immediately resolve your assumption. And there are two different hammers for the single six; taller for the windage-adjustable-only dovetail rear sight and the shorter for the adjustable sighted super single six.

OM hammer vertical lengths:

Large frame hammer = 2.37"
Mid-frame = 2.18"
Single six = 2.06"
Super single six short for adj. sight = 1.95"

This should be a sticky somewhere....
