Wonder if anyone here owns an adjustible sighted GP100 and a Colt Python? don't have either right now and l'd be interested to know how they compare as far as the cylinder thickness and length. Also how the barrel ribs compare in thickness. And probably some other things I haven't thought of yet. Thanks.

.

One difference is that someone will actually shoot a GP-100.

The Python will likely be sold in NIB condition ten years later.

im sure the gp100 will shoot heavier loads longer before shooting loose but i would rather have the python in a bullseye match.

+1 on that. I don't buy guns to look at.

OP didn't ask for opinions, he asked for dimensions. Can anyone help him? :?

BTW, OP, you might also want to ask about "trigger reach"--this is the dimension between the face of the trigger and the closest point on the backstrap. It's quite long on a Python--longer even than a Smith N frame.

Here are some approx cylinder specs I found. Being so simliar they were probably made to hone in on each others market. Still be interested in knowing how wide the top strap and barrel rib are on the GP100.

4" Python cyl length 1.557", width 1.549".

6" Python cyl length 1.562", width 1.550".

GP100 cyl length 1.610", width 1.546"

S&W 586 cyl length 1.625", width 1.56"
