I know this isn't a political thread, but in response I offer that whoever the current president is, blame him! This has been the modus operandi for decades, nothing new. The thing is, the current president, for at least the first two years of his term is dealing with what the immediately former president's policies created. Fact. IMHO, of course. 😁 And, no, I am not a Biden fan.

The service industries have been hit hard by the pandemic and the lack of workers and inflation as noted before. Hotels and motels as well as restaurant prices have almost doubled this year. Look at the increase in prices around the country to see how they compare.

With Gasoline prices and Motel prices, I don't know if I'll make to Contender's place this fall.

Look at it this way: There's an entire demographic who has been sitting at home drawing their full salary w/o the expense of driving to work, dry cleaning, hair styling, new clothes, and all that stuff for 2 1/2 years. No vacations, no every weekend traveling, no blowing hundreds on eating out, and NOW THE DAM HAS BROKEN. Those folks have months and months of 'play money' to blow on summer vacation and they're going to spend it.

Maybe because we are in recession. The last administration did some damage to our economy

I never have breakfast at the hotel normally we go restaurant to have breakfast instead.
One more thing all the hotel or motel are the same we stayed for three day they never clean the room and changed the be. They using COVID as an excuse not to do so, excepted the price will be the same.

If I hadn't moved away several years back I would have invited you to stay at my place! Unbelievable how the influx of retirees from rich states is forcing people out of MT. I can't go back until I retire and don't need a job. I may inherit a small house. Otherwise I'll never be able to afford to go back.

I see several acceptable motels listed on Priceline for $135 - $150 for this coming weekend. Mountain View is listed at $187. What dates were you looking for ?

The dollars you spent there before have been devalued by your government down to about 25 cents in real value. Because they just keep printing dollars like a Kinkos and GIVING IT AWAY to every one in the world except you.

Welcome to Boz Angeles (as we call it locally). Out of Staters have sent prices (home/land/etc.) through the roof (everywhere in MT). You'd think the bubble would burst at some point, but these people seem to have plenty of money and keep coming. Sad. Trying to hire is tough, because because those that want to work, can't afford to live. And of course if you can pay, then that drives up cost of product you are trying to sell (like staying in hotel).

Ha!! For $425 I would sleep in my car. I fail to see how anyone except the well heeled can afford these prices. Time to conserve and not blow big bucks.

I passed on going to South FL to my grand-son's wedding for much the same reason.
Not counting the air-fare AND rental car, it would have cost over $400/night for a place
to sleep (and you do NOT know if the sheets are actually clean).

Since he and his wife have been married (civil ceremony) for two years, I passed on
the "opportunity".

Bozeman is a suburb of California and they all think if we can do it in LA we can do it here...look around , it looks, smells and reeks of socialist Demoncrats
...........I will not do a gunshow there because the people have the LA attitude and are rude and very disrespectful................
