I saw one recently in a local shop for $759.00. Is that a fair price? Also saw another black one, with set up for assorted sights, lights, etc., mounted on front handgard, no flash suppresor, for $650. Not sure what model it was. Both brand new.

If you're referring to the Tactical model (M-14/20GBCPC, Ruger #5847), my dealer here in NW Florida offers it for ~ $750 out the door. I paid a bit less than that for mine a year ago.

emeraldcoaster,
That sounds like the one I was looking at, although I didn't get the exact model number. I guess my dealer is right in the ballpark. Do you have any idea what the other one, without the flash hider, is all about, with the front handguard having rails for lights, and other things on four sides? It was all black, like the tacticle.

The second model you're describing sounds similar to the version with the ATI stock (M-14/20CF), except it comes with a flash suppressor. I couldn't find the model you described on Ruger's web site (ruger.com), but I thought the ATI version was offered without the flash suppressor. I'll defer to someone else for that detail. As for pricing, many dealers coordinate with the Davidson's through galleryofguns.com. You can do a firearms search using your zip code to get an idea what local dealers are asking for specific models. Good luck.

In Mississippi it was rumored that dealers were buying the MHP Mini14GB's for as low as $250 depending on how many they wanted, of course they more than doubled their money when they sold them, I saw some go for $699.

I went on Gunbroker.com, and found out that there 6, or 8 different models of the so-called "tactical Model mini-14." There is even one, the model 5829, that is priced about $1500!!! That's getting up to the area of the SR-556. Since I can't get the Ruger website to open up, without all of the pictures blanked out, with red 'X's" in the corner, and no printed information showing, I can't pin down too much info on all of the different models. :?

On line seller CDNN has been selling the Tactical with the synthetic stock for right at $600 and the Ranch for $620. I think it's cdnn.com and you have to down load the catalog to see them. kwg
