Welcome to the world of colonoscapies and Sigmoidacscopes. I've lost count on how many I've had since 2022 when they discovered colon cancer which is when the real fun began and is ongoing still. First off, I forgo the sedation. If I get sedated I can't drive myself home and I have no one to take me or bring me back. Frankly, there is no need to be sedated and if you're awake you can watch the video of the trip up no man's land. The only physical discomfort is when they blow air to inflate you enough to take pictures of potential trouble spots and the slip snip when they remove samples. Besides, the doc that does the deed on me is a very good looking blonde. She has a good sense of humor and makes the procedure almost fun.

Glad to hear that things were better than they could have gone. I took my husband in for his. He told the doctor to take him out and wine and dine him before the violation and requested Duelin' Banjos as mood music. I had to convince them that NO, he had not been drinking, he's just weird. That is a fine outcome, polyps were the same with my husband, something you can deal with without having to panic.

With my first one 13 years ago they couldn't knock me out. I'm watching it on the TV. She gave me a second dose, nothing. She was horrified and went to give me a 3rd dose and I said no. I've been watching and he's so far in he in California right now. It didn't feel good, but it wasn't horrible.

2 years ago they knocked me out with Propofol. I woke up in an instant and could have ridden home on my motorcycle.

I've had a few when younger and always wondered if the anesthetic used actually "knocks you out" or just wipes out the memory of a short period of time. I've heard both versions.
I've heard that so I think there's some truth in it, at least with Propofol. No wonder they say some people say the wildest stuff 😳
