The Pre 64 Model 70 was my Dads Gun it has a B&L Balvar 8 Scope on it, after my Dad died in 1977 I was 15 years old and I got the Gun. Hunted with it for many years and killed a bunch of Bucks.a work partner got me into Rugers in the early 80s, I just set the M77 up just like my Dads Model 70 with a B&L Balvar Scope. with do you Think?

I didn't realize the Bausch & Lomb mounts had been made for the Ruger 77. Not sure why, it was still available after the 77 came out of course.

I have always had a soft spot for the old B&L scopes with adjustable mounts. Too bad no one makes something like that to this day. If you combined the super optical glass of today's high dollar scopes with a finely made (CNC perhaps?) adjustable mount you would have a bull strong sighting outfit and a scope that could withstand quite a bit of banging about.

Sorry to see that scope style go by the wayside.

I have a M77 in 257 R also. It seems to be the one rifle that I have that everyone wants. Maybe I'll just live forever so as not to offend them all.
