I haven't had a land line for almost 7 years. I see no need. I get few enough calls as it is. Actually I get more spam calls than real calls. Just guessing here, but I'm thinking if people live in an "older" home, they will have a land line. If they have new construction, they probably don't have a land line. Just a guess though.

No...
Haven't had a land line since we transitioned to cell phones some years back.
Just seemed superfluous to our needs.

We got rid of our landline last January. The only calls we received on it were debt collection calls for my wife's ex-husband and his current wife!

We have two and they get the most use:

The one in the kitchen/dining room area. Working new but old style candlestick phone. It even has the rotary dial.

The bedroom phone. Old style but with push button dial.

Cell phones here are both tracfone flip phone with minutes for use in emergencies and such.

Well, yes and no. While I suppose you could say that I have a land line, it hasn't been a true land line for at least seven or eight years, maybe more. It is VoIP. While I miss my old AT&T land line, as it was the gold standard for call quality, I don't miss basic service for $40. I only keep my VoIP service because it is ten bucks a month.

No land line here. Not since 2004. Although a few years ago. AT&T gave us a discount for a phone number associated with our account. But I never bought a phone to connect and use. I never even knew the phone number.

We still have a land line, no cell service where we live and we get our internet through the land line.

Yes, landline with the same number I have had on the farm since 1990. It is for emergency only. I have 10 minutes a month outgoing calls, unlimited incoming. Mostly spam calls, though occasionally get family. It is also how I get the internet.

I kept mine longer than most folks I know. Never used it to call out, but occasionally some one would call me that I knew but didn't have my cell number, I could always be found in "the book" if they needed me. Plus, I felt it a back up in case of emergency, thinking while one system would be down, the other might work.

Then, about the time I realized that the only calls I got on it was from those $*%$$%^%ing telemarketers, the phone company in all its wisdom raised the rates. Goodbye!

I still have mine because to get rid of it would cause my phone bill to go up. I've been on a plan for many, many years that includes the land line, cable TV and internet services. If I give up the landline I lose that plan and the new monthly cost would be slightly higher. Plus I would have to buy a wireless gadget for my home security system that now relies upon the land line. But we never use the land line anymore, and do not answer it when it rings. If the caller does not leave a voicemail, then so be it.

In the AZ oven (Phoenix basin)
I had the same number from 1976 to Spring of this year. It went through a series of
company name changes over the years and the actual service was deteriorating.
I checked with Verizon and found I could get a good price break; made the change.

Moved to AZ and found that the internet data restriction was bothering me AND the
majority of calls on that phone were telemarketing. Went looking and found a local
ISP that provides unlimited data at a higher speed than Verizon. Dumped the old
number and switched to the local ISP. I have now received fewer telemarketing
calls since last June, than I was receiving PER DAY before.

Sometimes it pays to "move around".

I kept a land line when I was working from home for reliability. The price was terrible for just a phone... I could use a cellular base and plug all my house phones into it for 20 bucks a month instead of the 78 dollars a month for the land line. It was a no brainer! lol

So - Not only do I not have a land line... I'm seriously thinking about getting rid of the cell phone as well. Maybe just have one of those cheap pay-by-minute supermarket phones that you can toss in the rubbish when the coin runs out. Just enough to call the Regional Fire Dept if we needed to.
