I just bought a police trade GP100. I think I'd like to spruce it up a bit with some polish and new grips. What kind of polish should I use? Any tips on how to polish it? I think I have some semichrome laying around...would that do or is it too harsh? Anybody use a scotchbrite pad instead?

The GP comes with a brushed stainless finish same as most other Ruger stainless guns. It can be touched-up with a Scotch-Bright pad pretty easily. If you want to polish it and make it shiny you can do that too but it is considerably more work.

Welcome to the forum, best in the west or any other direction for that matter. :D :D

I would like to restore a consistent brushed look by removing shiny holster wear and scratches. Any particular "color" Scotch-Bright pad?

I use green pads for touch-up work. However, polish works wonders.

Mine (bought used) came with a sort of film on it. Tried Semi-Chrome and some marine stuff - no joy. Went to Mother's and had pretty good luck at getting a pretty even looking finish.
