This may have been addressed, but I searched and can't find anything on it.

I would like to remove the black on the upper (Barrel) of my 22/45 and just leave it polished to a high luster or stainless steel look. It's a bit scratched and worn, and like the look of stainless....

Has anyone just stripped theirs, and how did you go about doing it...

I got a quote of $150 to do it, but I am not spending that on a $250 gun...

Well, anytime you remove the blued finish,, you will have bare metal. It's not stainless under there. It can & will rust if not protected. You might consider having a different finish on it,,! A beadblasting & parkerizing can be done quite reasonably.
