A friend carried a two headed screw driver on his key chain. Phillips and flat blade no more than 1" long TSA relieved him of this dangerous weapon before he could board.

Knife Size Regulations in IdahoUnder Idaho law, it is illegal to carry any knife, open or concealed, with a blade longer than 2.5 inches (pocket knives) to a school. It is also unlawful to conceal carry any bowie, dirk, or dagger knife with a blade length exceeding 4 inches without a weapons permit.
I stand corrected. Your first post was too vague to he useful. The second post mentions schools where it is common knowledge knives and guns are verboten.
I do not know anyone packing a bowie, dirk, or dagger.

As far as France, just go to a store once you get there. Buy a kitchen paring knife and you're set with a fixed blade. Or has France banned paring knives?

Thanks but decided early on that I can go a couple days without my pocket knife or any one. It becomes so ingrained to carry one and I use it most days at least once. Tomorrow we're flying to South Carolina for wife's nieces college graduation, knife is coming with. Been there lots of times and they're not like those damn super lib frogs!

Believe me I wouldn't normally go there, especially since they wouldn't allow us to fly over with our F111's to do a bombing run on Libya in 86. I had just gotten out of active duty and followed it closely. We lost one of the 111's on that mission. It took a lot longer to fly around and not sure it contributed( probably not) to the loss but still pissed me off, some allies.
We're going just for the 80'th anniversary of the D-Landing and honor our boys. 🇺🇸🫡

You missed all the fun on that raid, the Coral Sea had the first F-18 squadrons. The F-18's didn't have enough fuel to make it all the way to the target and back with us at our normal standoff range.

No problem We will just move everyone closer, so the Frigate's were about 15 miles off shore instead of 35 miles like normal. It was a good light show and the F-111's did come right over our heads. F-111's in dark sound so much like a Mig 25's. Good times. :)

Have fun enjoy yourself, that part of France as always been nice and friendly, the Normandy went there in 1991 and we took the whole tour, got off her in May of 94. I didn't want to be on that beautiful ship with Slick Willey, so I skipped the 50th.

I was pissed I wasn't aboard my ship participating in the mission if she even was called upon to sail. If it wasn't for losing the 111 and crew it would have been very successful. It sure calmed khadaffi down. Too bad we didn't put one on his head.

Looking forward to going. My nephew was a West Point grad and did two tours in Iraq. He and some of his WP buds went for the 75th. They has a great time and almost met Trump. He got back and said I have to go for the 80th with and his wife. Of course wife and I was in. There will be 6 couples going and we rented a chateau for the time. Also booked a 6hr ( I think) tour of the battle sights) Wife and I are doing one overnighter in Paris just to see some sights and get some good eats. I heard Normandy folks was totally different from Paris ones and in a much better way. Thanks for the heads up.

One last item that did not make the news; the day after the raid whoever was in charge of keeping track of the Libyan submarines lost one, so three carrier battle groups looked like 7th grade girls at Halloween Horror Night's. Everything that could carry a torpedo was in the air, total goat rope. Lasted until the next day when the 6th fleet got a good count.
Coolest thing was; because we dropped so many sonobuoys, drove a Soviet Foxtrot submarine to make an emergency surface. The Soviets had every flag on that submarine flying.

So cool, I hadn't heard that either. Sounds like right of out of Hunt for Red October. Just so happens I was an OS on a Knox Frigate an ASW platform, would have been a busy, exciting time in CIC.

Left over from my "good ol' days", I still have a Mad Dog Knives Frequent Flyer. No metal true fighter. I don't believe it was ever available for sell to the public.

Cold steel also offered a less rugged line of zytell knives. No metal, but not the Mad Dog quality.

That's all I have to say about it.

We also all carried stainless steel Cross ball point or fountain pins. Okay even on a plane, but serious in a scrap for poking holes.
