Piecing together a 10-22 22 mag

Thinking about putting a 10-22 together in 22 WMR flavor. If I was gonna try it, and keep the price reasonable, say $500 or less, what is the best route to take? Saw a stainless receiver for $179. Does the receiver have to be SS? Will a std 22 lr 10-22 rcvr take a 22 WMR magazine?

Just search out a Magnum and buy it.
The 10/22 receiver won't take the Magnum Magazine.

I still can't believe I saw one at my local gun show about 2 years ago for just over $200 and I let it go.....

If you can find a receiver for around $200 then that 'might' be the way to go... but then if $500 is your limit, I would think if you wait, eventually you should be able to find one for less than that.
