This one started life as an OM .30Carbine with "ears".... done by Horvath



This one is an OM .45Colt that I got from Hawkeye#28 MANY years ago; Clements cleaned it up for me and removed the "ears". Notice how close the pin that holds the rear sight in place is to the remaining metal on top..... :oops:

I don't have one to show but if I remember you have 3 choices when flat topping...
1. You flattop it level and are really close to the pin. 2. You taper the flat a bit from the back to front and gain just a bit more thickness above the pin. 3. You have the hole welded up, redrilled , reblued etc.

Appreciate the feedback! I've done this before when the cross pin hole will allow. But did what Alan did which is weld up the front square area and mill it round so it looks factory.

Just wanted to see how it looks without doing that on a Blackhawk. The OM Super with Micro sight has been done.
