When you put the top part back in after you hook the rear part into the stock slits, you need to pull back on the slide a bit as you're lowering the bolt assembly into the stock otherwise the bolt will be locked in an inoperable position. I guess Ruger did this on purpose so that the rifle can be rendered inoperable should you decide to store it for long periods and prevent unauthorized firing.
Thanks for all the help, I was able to piece it all back together, looks like I'm missing a hammer strut, posting a new thread to look for parts, looks like I can make one if all else fails.
