Hey Gang,
I got a P97, stainless, with 2 mags and box. Thinking of selling it but not sure what it's worth. Any ideas? It is in pristine condition and shot very little.

Any help would be very appreciated!

I would (keep it, that is) ... I would say you'd probably be at the bottom end, to be honest with you. Unfortunately, Ruger semi's don't do real well in the used market, at least where I am in Eastern PA. You might get someone here who's specifically looking for one to go a little more if you're lucky.

How much low? You might try different ammo, especially a heavier bullet as that will bring up POI a tad.

I'd try letting another experienced/seasoned shooter try it. Many times it's an incorrect sight picture that causes things like this. If it consistently shoots low, you 'may' be able to get Ruger to send you a higher rear sight, they're usually pretty good about stuff like this. First, though, get a few others to shoot it who you know are good shots, to see if it does the same thing.

I have 2 P97's and they are my favorite pistols. I think, as has been suggested, that you can find and correct any problem you have with it. Most of my problems with shooting has been the way I grip the gun and squeeze the trigger. Either one not done right can through you off. The idea to get someone else to shoot it is a good one.

I sold one recently for $320 for a used in excellent condition w/ less than 400 rds through.

Ruger is very reliable, however, it doesn't hold the value very well unlike a used Glock pistol.

I found one today at a local shop for $429. I thought about picking it up, but I have a P345 and couldn't justify another one at this time...especially since they had a NIB Smith & Wesson 439 for $349....

A while back, I needed some cash, it was at that time I sold my P97 to one of my closest friends. This gun was always one of my favorites, but i knew it was going to the right home. I had a leather holster and 4 magazines, and all original accessories it came with. Selling price: $350.00.

So without all the goodies, $275-$325 sounds right on the money.
