I am looking at trying some different ammo for my p95. What is shooting good for everyone?
I have been shooting federal hydrashok, jhp, 124 grain. I know it is not the latest and greatest, but it shoots well for me.
I have been thinking of bumping up to the 147 grain. Is this a smart decision or does it not matter that much?
How about +p. Again, is this smart or does it not matter that much?

I guess I am just looking for some info. Thanks.

JHP is fairly expensive just for shooting, if you are talking about self-defense ammo 124 gr is a fine weight for 9mm and that is what I choose to have on hand. When choosing SD ammo the most important thing is that it cycles reliably in your pistol, most of the major manufacturers make very good SD ammo and Hornady is one of them. So test any SD ammo before relying on it.

taker, if you are just shooting at targets FMJ is a far cheaper proposition.

I am talking SD ammo. Shooting jhp SD ammo all the time would get very expensive, very quickly!!
For targets, I shoot winchester white box, fmj.
I am looking at trying some different SD ammo, and I would like some input on what people are using.
I should have been more specific in my first post.

I'm stocked on Remington UMC 115 grain JHP( decent bargain ammo in 100 round boxes), Federal 124 grain HST, and my favorite Federal 9BPLE +P+ 115 grain. Many other choices out there: Speer Gold Dot, Remington Golden Saber come to mind.
For target FMJ: Fiocchi, Sellier & Bellot, WWB, Rem UMC, Speer Lawman(FMJ companion to GD), and American Eagle have all been reliable for me.

My SD ammo is the Georgia Arms Gold Dot stuff. I can buy a couple 50 round bulk packs at the gun show along with a 500 round can of full metal jacket and that will last me for practice for about a year.

I've yet to find ammo that cause a problem in my P95s.

I ran into someone who loved the ammo you're decsribing. I think he used Winchester. His thought process was slower and heavier is better for a 9 (just repeating what he said).

Years ago when I had a 9, I used golden sabres for SD (still have a few). At the range I mostly used WWB or Blazers for practice.

I think the major manufacturers all make good stuff for SD. I would try the one you want and if it works good in the gun, than go for it.

I plan to join the P95 club soon.

Best of luck,

lee
