I just bought a used p944 in .40 cal. I noticed taking it apart, I'm missing the bushing and the spring clip at the end of the guide rod. (according to the parts list in the book) Do i need these parts, as the pistol seems to function fine without them.
The gun says P94 on the slide, but according to the exploded view in the book it's a P944 ???

Also, does anybody know how to remove the safety from the slide, as I would like to polish the sides but need to remove the safety's first.

Thanks for any info.

The bushing and spring clip aren't necessary if you don't have them. Get or borrow a copy of the gun digest book of semiautomatics assembly/disassembly. Follow the instructions and it's a piece of cake. Good luck and show pics after your slide is done.

Casper45, it is very common for the collar and collar retainer to come off, uncapturing the recoil springs. It will NOT affect functioning.

Thanks for the reply, I ordered the whole assembly (guide rod, two springs, collar and collar retainer) from Brownells for $14
