Hello all,

I rounded out my Ruger .45 auto collection with a P345 last week and took it to the range today, just had a couple questions.

It fed/ejected perfectly, accuracy was great; but when I perform a mag reload from slide-lock the slide will automatically release? So when I "TAP" the magazine in, the slide falls. 9 out of 10 times it grabbed a round, but once it did not. Not normal on my other P-series pistols, I searched and couldn't find any info. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,

Steven

I've had one for a few mos. and have not had that problem. Only problems I've had are it refuses to feed my 200 gr RFN cast bullets. They get hung up in the mags. But after being broke in (after about 250 rds) it shoots all 230 gr ammo flawlessly.

Not sure what the problem is, I thoroughly cleaned it before I shot it the first time, 100% reliability with 230gr FMJ's, Gold Dots and Hornady TAP +P. Just don't think it should release the slide when I insert a mag. If I ease it in and it latches it won't but anything halfway forceful drops the slide.

Try taking the mag springs out and reseating them. May or may not do the trick but it is easy enough to try.

tkarter - thanks for the tip, tried that, but it still has problems.

I tried it with all my mags and it does it every time; whether with the 345 mags or my 90/97 mags. 1 rnd in magazine or 8; FMJ or HP; no difference. Even tried some snap caps and it did the same thing. Guess I will call Ruger first chance I get. Thanks guys.

We need coffee pot. He had an answer to that situation some time ago.

It was mag related but can't for the life of me remember his cure.

If I get time I will research the old posts on this forum and see if I can find the info.

About the only post I could find concerning this issue was this one,

I tried stoning/polished the surfaces of my slide stop where the round actually touches, helped a little, still does it somewhat. Not sure how much material I can actually remove there.

Would a heavier recoil spring help any at all? Maybe putting more tension on the slide and slide stop when it's locked back; I know the factory one is awful light. Thanks
