Wow, in one week? Glad you didn't get flooded out.
lol that was two weeks ago when we flooded. But this is all hill ground so it stays dry.
That seems pretty good, from planting to germination in 7 days. You must have some very fertile soil and proper moisture content.
It's just the seeds nowadays. That's why I posted the pic. In the 70's it was 2-3 weeks for germination. Now a week or sometimes even less

I planted corn both field and sweet for almost 50 years. Field was always up in 10 days to 2 weeks(colder weather)...sweet corn always shorter as it was planted in somewhat warmer weather and shorter period to maturity. Y'all need to work that ground a bit more

I plan on planting my Silver Queen corn this weekend. I usually soak the seed in water for about an hour or so to help them germinate. Sometimes the squirrels will get some.
My dad had a sawmill and we custom sawed for farmers and construction companies who needed lumber. Most of the people provided their own logs but occasionally we supplied the logs.

One of the best people we sawed for used to raise cantaloupes and Silver Queen corn. He would call and tell us to put the kettle on for corn. He would pick us a couple of dozen ears and bring it right over. It was literally half an hour from stalk to kettle and that was some of the finest eating ever.
