Guys I keep running across Single Actions which I know nothing about. What type is this one. Serial number puts it at 1957-1958. Has Magnum Cylinder. What is it worth?
Thanks

To determine Type a serial# is required. 1957-1958 could be anything from a Type 3 flatgate (which it obviously isn't) to a Type 2 roundgate.

Ruger started making the 22 Mag. in 1959. They said they would fit a Mag. cylinder to a Single-Six from serial number 150,000 and above.

I can't see the serial number too tell what you have. As this is a 5 1/2 in barrel it could be a convertible if it was made in 1961, and the 22 L.R. cylinder is missing.

It would help if we knew the serial number.

I only have numbers 72XXX. I meant it has magnum cylinder as well as LR cylinder.

Does the Mag cylinder have the last 3 numbers of the gun's serial number on the front of the cylinder? If so are they stamped on scratched?

Serial # makes it a Type 1 roundgate well before the invention of the convertible. Mag cylinder was probably added later by one of the owners.

Configuration measurements say that that 72xxx gun should not be fired with a 22 mag round. Mag cylinders OK after 150,000 SN due to barrel dimensions of bore.

as said above, thats just a NICE looking roundgate, that has a ""extra" 22 mag cylinder, intended for ANOTHER gun, NOT this one........pieces ,parts...

between $300 and $400 as it sets..............
