OM Blackhawk .357 cylinder lock-up

Has any one ever come across something they didn't know they had. In my BH parts bag was a bag of stuff I don't even know where came from. A complete rear sight assy, 2 base pins, an ejector housing. a coupla other things. Rear sight says it's for an OM .45, which I don't even own (yet). Must be making purchases while sleep walking.....

So THAT'S where my spare parts went! You can return them to me at BR549! :D

Actually, I have a modest stash of OM parts---during my years of managing gun stores, I was given bags full of OM conversion parts after OM revolvers were returned to their owners from Ruger with the new "Safety" conversion parts installed... Since I collected OM Flattops at the time (still have a few), the customer often said they don't need the old parts anymore...

I recently cleaned up a spare bedroom and found a 357 Colt New Frontier, a Winchester 92 in 32/20 and a 500 JRH BFR in the box. I guess I need to clean up some more rooms.

You wouldn't have an OM xr3 red grip frame, by chance? I am in need.

The more I got into this revolver, the more I found wrong with it. Not only the wrong hammer causing the cylinder lockup problem. The grip frame had obviously been changed, it was in much better shape than the rest of the gun. Also the stamp on the inside put it as a later manu. date than the gun. I found out why when I put it together for it's "final" assembly. Further up in this thread I said I had found a short bottom mount screw. I got an appropriate length screw out of my parts and ran it in. got half way in and broke off without much torque on it. The short screw had been broken off in the main frame, which I should have looked at while I had it apart. It stuck up in the gf hole far enough I could not get the gf off. I actually cracked the gf while trying to remove it. Nothing left to do but cut the gf. Got the broken screw out and checked the mount threads with another screw. got half way and bound up, so I backed it out. Going to get a thread chaser and clean it up.
So now I'm into this gun for a hammer and grip frame, not to mention all the time and frustration. So I sent a text to the gentleman I had bought it from on Brokegunner, detailing all I had found wrong with the gun, and attached some pictures. He said he wasn't aware of the problems, had taken it in on trade. I gave him a price I thought it would be worth, he agreed to send me a check for $100.00. I received the check in the mail yesterday. I would like to send a shout-out to this guy, but won't give his name without his permission. A good honest dealer.
We purchase these guns off the web, sight unseen, just a few pictures and a description to go on. We should be able to expect a safe, useable gun, unless sold as a parts gun. I have purchased a lot of guns off Gunbroker, this is the first time I have really been disappointed with my purchase. The seller did make a concession and gave me a partial refund, for which I am VERY grateful.
Thank to everyone on this thread for all the help and information. Gotta love this forum......

THAT ☝️ is absolutely amazing: both the hidden problems AND the fact the the seller was so willing to take responsibility and make amends. GOOD for BOTH of you....I'm impressed.

Thanks much, J2. I guess one shouldn't expect mush out of a "beater", but I still expect it to work safely, or be sold as parts. Just adds to the questions to ask before a purchase.

Ahh,, let the negative nay-sayers who bash just about everything choke a bit. You found an honest seller & were able to work out a nice arrangement to correct the issues.

KUDOS!!!!!
Yes, Contender, there are still good people on this old earth, no matter what they say!! I feel fortunate to have dealt with one......
